Lascelles Abercrombie

Lascelles Abercrombie attended Malvern College between 1895-1900 and went on to have a successful career as a poet, playwright and academic. He was one of the renowned ‘Dymock Poets’, a community of successful poets including well known individuals such as Robert Frost. Abercrombie maintained his connection to the College after leaving, returning in 1914 to deliver a lecture on Early English and Elizabethan Drama, and in 1952 Malvern students performed his play ‘The Deserter’. He lectured at numerous universities such as Liverpool, Leeds, the University of London and the University of Oxford, later becoming a Fellow of Merton College and of the Royal Academy.
