A decade of educational excellence
Our second international campus, Malvern College Chengdu (MCC), opened in September 2015. MCC operates from a purpose-build campus in Xinjin County, to the south of Chengdu, blending British architectural features and modern design concepts. The campus houses exceptional facilities including:
- Heated swimming pool
- Multi-purpose indoor sports hall
- And a well-equipped theatre.
Delivering a Bespoke Bilingual Curriculum
The school currently has a capacity of 1,100 pupils across primary and secondary age groups, and offers both day and boarding options. For pupils from Nursery to Year 6, MCC provides a bespoke bilingual curriculum encompassing both the compulsory Chinese National Curriculum and key elements of the English National Curriculum. Pupils then transition to the IGCSE and A level programmes once they reach the secondary school.
Academic subjects are studied alongside English as a Second Language, which is taken at IGCSE in advance of IELTS/TOEFL exams. All pupils have regular Physical Education sessions alongside outdoor pursuits such as The Junior Duke of Edinburgh’s Award programme, mountain biking and trail running. Pupils in the Foundation years (Lower 4, Middle 4 and Upper 4) study a wider range of subjects including Humanities. Students have the opportunity to engage in a wide range of co-curricular activities such as sport, music, drama, art, debating and The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, and are supported through Leadership and Study Skills programmes.
The day to day operations of both the primary and secondary sections are led by their respective academic Heads, and the management of the school is overseen by Headmaster Mr Michael Urquhart.
