We are delighted to offer a bespoke support service for graduates from MCI schools beginning their next steps at university or a Pathway College in the UK in partnership with College Guardians.

Many parents like the security of appointing a guardian for their child when they initially come to the UK to attend university. We recognise that many young people studying at University wish to have a certain level of independence and our university service for MCI graduates reflects this ethos, ensuing that parents have peace of mind that in an emergency your child will have somewhere to turn to for support.

Services

Based at Malvern College, UK, College Guardians works closely with MCI and the Malvernian Society in supporting graduates from MCI schools studying at a wide range of universities and colleges across the UK. Our exclusive service includes:

  • Pre-arrival welcome pack providing tips and information about studying at university in the UK
  • Allocation of an appropriate guardian from the College Guardians team with full contact details
  • Access to our Chinese speaking Guardians
  • Assistance booking transport to the city where the student is studying
  • An opportunity for students to meet with CG staff face-to-face post arrival, where requested, at a mutually convenient time
  • Guidance and assistance registering with a doctor and/or dentist and advice regarding private medical cover as an alternative to NHS care
  • Information relating to the local area where the student is studying
  • Help and assistance purchasing student rail cards
  • Ensuring that your child settles into university life as smoothly as possible and assisting with any issues that may arise
  • Where appropriate, liaising with parents/agent after visits to provide feedback on the health and wellbeing of the student
  • Provision of a 24-hour on call service during term time.

Additional Services

Additional services on offer include:

  • If at any time a host family stay is required, an arrangement fee will be charged in addition to host family charges
  • Additional in-person visits can be requested at an additional cost
  • College Guardians can offer an accommodation service for MCI graduates at university who are over the age of 18. An additional cost applies to this service.

Founded in 2010, College Guardians (CG) has long been supporting international students studying in the UK whose parents are based overseas. With an experienced and dedicated team of professionals, CG puts your child’s wellbeing and needs at the heart of everything they do. The team at CG recognise the importance of working together to give the best possible care to the children and students under our supervision. Between our main office in Worcestershire and our regional coordinators across the UK, we build strong relationships between students’ universities and Pathway college teachers, parents and where applicable, host families. In turn, this delivers a service that considers the individual needs of each person and ensures a provision of the utmost care. We know our students well and meet regularly to ensure their wellbeing.
